TikTok

TikTok is a video focused social networking app that allows people to upload up to 3 minute content with the chance of it becoming viral for many to see. In March 2020 alone TikTok was downloaded almost 115 million times. The growth of people downloading TikTok came from the Covid 19 pandemic, and has the current usage of 1 billion users. We decided to use this social media app to engage with out target audience due to the global scale we could reach on here and many lives we can impact positively. TikTok can be used for a range of purposes such as, educational, dancing, and entertainment, we aim to use this platform to provide educational benefits, we believe seeing a 30 second video of positivity, resources and helpful information could be enough to lighten someone’s day or push them to strive to seek help.

It is estimated 41% of TikTok users are aged between 16 and 24, this fits perfectly into our age demographic because we will receive a maximum amount of engagement from them on our campaign from the young generation being so active on this social media channel. It is also founded ‘ 90% of TikTok users go on the app multiple times a day, and these users will spend around 45 minutes a day on the app’ Therefore, from the research we collected about TikTok and from the information we have encountered from our theorists such as the mode of persuasion, we must create the perfect balance between the Logos, Ethos, and Pathos in order to optimise the best results.

From the research gathered, ‘Influencer advertising on TikTok works particularly well as this social media platform is known for showcasing authentic and natural content.’ TikTok has the creation of a ‘For You Page’ which caters the users feed as to what they’re interacting with showing them similar and relatable content. To ensure our content is reaching our target audience we have come up with the solution of making our content engageable and relatable to our age demographic to reach there for you page and achieve maximum engagement. We must make sure we are reaching the TikTok trends that occur in order to make a significant impact in our campaign.
